From Sky to Showcase: The Craft Behind our Custom Aircraft Windows

At Whaletail Sales, every custom aircraft window we create carries a story. From the aircraft that they flew on, to the hands that brought it back to life.

These iconic windows don’t arrive ready to display. Each window is cut, cleaned up around the sides, engraved, and painted by our Team in house with care, precision, and a whole lot of hard work.

Cutting to size:

We start by removing them directly from retired commercial aircraft in Southern Arizona. The teardown team uses large grinders to carefully cut through the fuselage layers — including the internal ribs. Once removed, the windows are brought back to our warehouse, where they’re trimmed down to 1, 2, or 3-window sections. The edges are ground smooth to remove sharp metal, and the ribs on the back are cleared out to make them hang-ready.

Engraving with Purpose:

Once prepped, the inner window insert is laser-engraved with your custom message, logo, or artwork. Whether it’s a tribute to a pilot, a company logo, or a one-of-a-kind message for someone special — each engraving is crafted with precision and pride.

Painting to Perfection:

We offer the option to repaint your window or preserve its original aircraft paint — wear and all. From classic whites to bold aviation blues, each color is chosen to complement the story your piece tells. It’s the finishing touch that transforms a salvaged part into a standout showpiece.
